Holo snowflake funky french

Let's look at my Holo snowflake funky french which I did in the beginning of this winter. It's basically a blue and white gradient with white freehanded snowflakes. And then a holo top coat holo polish on top of the smiley. Not super holographic especially in shadow/natural light but still a valid contribution to Holo Friday. What do you think? :)

China Glaze - There's Snow One Like You, swatch

I figured that I'd should show some winter like manicures in the archive when there's still some snow left outside. I'm also going to do a 31 day challenge starting 1st of March (anyone can join btw), basically the same as Chalkboardnails 31DC except some small changes, so when I'm done with that it's April and I guess the spring has started by then. :)

China Glaze - There's Snow One Like You is a non glittery texture polish with some snow resemblance. Basically I would call the formula jelly/crelly filled with texture and white matte hexagon glitter. Two coats where needed to make it cover. I've previously read that people have had problems with application but I didn't find it that hard. I just felt that it was important to have enough polish on the brush, but sure, the consistency is lumpy. I had also heard that it easily got tip wear so I pressed the nail edges to my finger and I also filed my nails/the polish when it was dry (to prevent any glitter sticking out causing tip wear of chipping) and it worked fine during the 2 days I wore it.This is also my "most textured" polish I got but I actually liked that.

Final thoughts then. I really like this polish, I like the textured trend in general. However I hope there will come out some more white texture polishes because there is one thing bugging me about this polish. The thing that makes the texture in the polishes are small plastic "balls", the balls are "plastic colored", ie "grayish" which make the white base look kinda dirty. I prefer my snow clean. ;)

Red velvet nails/ nails with red flocking powder

I know some of you like to see fails and ugly stuff? Today is that day, today I'm showing my first (and so far only) try with flocking powder. In favor of the flocking powder it was my first try and the last nail I did, my pinkie, looked the best so let's start looking at that one:

Clearly most of my nails got bald spots. The worst is my ring finger which was the the nail I tried first.

And this is how messy it looked doing..

I applied red nail polish and then I dipped my nail (and apparently most of my finger) in the powder. One finger at the time and let it dry. After that I started the tedious work to tap my nails to a piece of paper and the majority of the powder actually fell off, except from the nails of course. The rest of the excess I actually washed away and that don't seem to be a problem at all. The "fur" dried super quickly.

I bought this at ebay for almost nothing so it wasn't that big of a loss. However I can't say that I liked it so much.. If you want to check out more red, but probably more good looking red nails, check out Red Tuesday.

Have you tried flocking powder? Do you like how it looks? Have you seen some good looking nail art/manicures with it?

Kleancolor - Neon Sapphire, swatch

Today I'm showing a polish with a name I don't agree with, neon what? In my opinion this is way too dark to be neon. I could go with vibrant but that's all. Something it is, is blue, which go well with Blue Monday.

Anyhow, Kleancolor - Neon Sapphire is a dark marine blue creme which needs two easy coats to cover. It's super shiny even without tc.  It's also one of those highly pigmented polishes so it could stain cuticles if not being careful (from what I've read at least, I had no problem with it). I totally recommend this polish, cheap and awesome. haha :D

What do you think? Do you like having your nails dark blue? :D

Dreamcatcher dotticure nail art

For this Nail Art Sunday I have a manicure I really enjoyed wearing. I've seen it at pinterest in different colors combinations but this time I choose to do it in orange, black and white. What I didn't know was what to call it..I asked in a nail fb group and got "Indian nail art", "dream catcher" and "lace", and the www told me "dotticure pattern" and it could be called "dotticure half moon pattern" too. But I guess this nail art really don't have a well established name (yet)? If you know the name please tell me in the comments.

As I said I really liked this and it was actually simpler to do than I thought, just making a whole bunch of dots. I'm thinking of wearing this again (these photos are from August last year) and then I could make a tutorial of it, you've told me you like those. ;)

Pink and orange neon gradient

Today I have a simple diagonal neon gradient to show. This is from last summer and I can't help getting annoyed looking at my nail shape.. Anyhow, both polishes are from China Glaze summer neon collection from 2012 and as you probably know, they got this awesome shimmer in them. I've found that all the neons from this collection are awesome for gradients btw, they have the perfect formula, they cover enough so no white undies are needed but is sheer enough to blend in seamlessly with each other. I also like that the shimmer in the pink goes towards orange which makes the whole manicure more or less orange depending on if it's sunlight or shadow. I've also got some rainy day photos but the neon still kick some ass. ;)

China Glaze - Don't Be A Luna-Tic, swatch

I've just being doing some cleansing in my archive and I've put everything in the same folder because I've neglected some "old" photos which I want to get published before they get too old.

For this Holo Friday I'm showing China Glaze - Don't Be A Luna-Tic. I experienced it to be kinda metallic gray/silver but with a hint of being teal (feels weird calling it blue or green. If someone asked if I knew a green or blue holo I wouldn't say this one at least..) The holo is linear and is only visible in the sun and if holding the bottle in the sun it just looks like a shimmer..which could be a reason why so many of my CG holos have been left untouched since I bought them. However, all I've tried has come to live when having them on the nails.

I needed 2 coats for it to cover. I haven't experienced any holo sickness as some people have done. It dried very quickly. A negative thing is that the polish really enhance every little uneven thing on the nails. Here I've used China Glaze - Super Strong Adhesion Base Coat but I'll try using the CG holos with my new Seche ridge filling base coat to really see if that helps.

Here I have it indoor with no light, just natural light from the window without any sun.
