Viva La Diva - 56, swatch

Hi, today is a late post since I've been out painting (my parents house) all day. The color for Vintage Week Challenge by Little Miss Nail Polish and Polished Marvels is green today and this is a polish I bought in the beginning of my nail polish collecting. I think this could have been my forth green polish ever and I wasn't content. The reason you see below..

..it's a jelly, and for about 7 years ago I didn't know how they could be used, not in nail art or anything. I knew nothing about jelly sandwiches and the new thing; pond manicures. Now I know better and I'll use this in some cool nail art soon, but for now you'll see it as it is, jelly and therefore transparent.

This is Viva La Diva - 56. As you can see it's a grass green jelly, with a tiny drip of blue in it. It's a real jelly and I believe this is 4-5 coats. I tried many coats to see if it would ever cover but I don't think it would.
Sorry for the late post. Know I'll go and read some nail blogs! :D

  1. I like this! I loved the first picture, But I never like when I can see the free-edge under polish ~ that's just my weird thang. I know your going to rock this so hard when you include it in nail art! Maybe its not meant to cover but it may be a great base for green water marble! <3

    1. Yes, me too. Before I knew about jellies I thought it was a bad polish but now when I know about what you can do with it I'm glad I tried it out again! And I agree with you, I don't like seeing the free edge like this, it's too visible here. I can accept it if it shows a bit, but not like this. I wouldn't go out in this alone and feel comfortable. :)

  2. I like jellies! I don't mind visible nail line. Does not shock me. And this would surely look fantastic on nail art!!
I love green as well, I don't own any green jelly, most of my jellies are purple, pink and orange, strange isn't it? :)

    1. Well, I think they can be okay if the jelly smooth out the VNL a bit making an almost gradient between the VNL and the.. haha ..other part of the nail. I think this one doesn't make it as smooth as I would have wanted but in nail art I'd like it a lot! I honestly don't have that many jellies (because I didn't understand them before), but except the green one above I have some pastel colors from pink, brown, purple, and two blue darker ones. However I'd like to have more of them! :P

  3. I remember when I didn't understand about jellies either. Those were the days ;) lol!
The color of this jelly is gorgeous! So bright and vibrant! I love it! I'd love to see some sort of sandwich with this gem some day! (Hint, hint) ;)

    1. Haha, certainly, those where the days ;) Yes, I really love this color and it's a shame I haven't used it so much. But now that will change! ;) However I can't make it until I get home from my parents, because I forgot this at home! But it'll come for sure! :D

    3. Oh, no hard feelings at all! :D I'm glad you mentioned it, things should be in order :D Sometime it's easy to make those hick-ups and it's also easy to get blind about the text written so it's good to be told :D
Thank you! I really liked your vintage idea! I have so many old/vintage polishes lying around, some of theme I haven't even tried so I really liked this challenge! :D It was welcome!

  5. Oh, my socks got knocked off over this!!! What a beautiful jelly - and what a great post. Reading about your first jelly experience reminded me so much of my own - I was CLUELESS and (to be honest) a touch miffed at the remaining transparency - haha, how little did I know back then.... I look forward to your nailart :-)

    1. Haha, seems like many of us where a bit clueless about jellies in the beginning. ;) haha like if it was some sort of low quality nail polish that would never cover, ah the knowledge, the knowledge we have now! :D Truly awesome! It's fun to see and realize how much one has learned during the years.. :D
