MNY MAYBELLINE NEW YORK my VARNISH - 753, swatch
Like last year Karin at Vacker&Underbar has organized a green theme week for depression awareness; called United in Green.
I'll leap into it and except for some nails I also want to share an article from NY Times with you. It's called Depression’s Upside and is a quite long article which might be hefty if you aren't so into english, but I recommend you giving it a try. It has a lot of interesting points and I could easily make this whole post to discuss all of them but the one I'm going to talk about is the one about medication, and how easy it is for doctors to subscribe meds instead of therapy. I'll quote this from the article:
“I remember one patient who came in and said she needed to reduce her dosage,” he says. “I asked her if the antidepressants were working, and she said something I’ll never forget. ‘Yes, they’re working great,’ she told me. ‘I feel so much better. But I’m still married to the same alcoholic son of a bitch. It’s just now he’s tolerable.’ The point is the woman was depressed for a reason; her pain was about something. While the drugs made her feel better, no real progress was ever made.”
Maybe medication is the best option for some circumstances but I'd also say that it in other circumstances might not help at all. Like the woman above, "curing her self" with medication to make her blank towards life while the real problem remains; her husband.
------
And yea, polish.. Today I'm showing MNY MAYBELLINE NEW YORK my VARNISH - 753. The photos has been laying in my archive for a while and much of it is because I'm not so content with the polish or the pictures. I first bought the blue version of this which covered in 2 coats and I expected this to act the same. Which it didn't. The color is a muted shimmer green with yellow/golden shimmer in it. The formula is thin and needed 4-5 coats to properly cover.

31DC2013 Day 2; Orange dotted gradient funky french
If you missed yesterday I've decided to participate in the 31 Day Challenge. Today it's orange and I decided to make a dotted gradient which would form a funky french kinda look. I used a sheer shimmer polish from Maybelline which I then covered up in dots, IRL the dots tricked my eyes and the VNL in the photos weren't noticeable at all.
Polishes used:
Maybelline - DA051
Depend - Nr 124

31DC2013 Day 1; Red arrow funky french
Hi, I kinda just decided that I wanted to participate in The 31 Day Challenge by Chalkboard Nails which happens to be one of my favorite bloggers. I missed the actual starting date which normally is on the 1st of September but I figured that it wouldn't matter that much. The reasons why I wanted to participate (except that I've wanted to do it before) are that I was forced to heavily shorten my nails and also that they just before I broke a bunch of them to the flesh also got extremely stained and therefore needed some extra push to keep my creativity. I've been been a bit down due to this a couple of weeks and they're still short (to be me) but I still wanted to challenge my self to try pulling this of. I'm not sure I'll manage to make one post each day but that's my ambition, however some theme days I might do double post or delay this challenge due to lack of time. That's the background story and this will be my day no.1 in this challenge. Everyone is free to join and the rules aren't any, just to "follow" the image below.
I wanted to start by doing something simple and ended up with a high funky french; the arrow style or what ever you'd like to call it. The red I'm using is a favorite amongst so many nail polish lovers, however I'm left pretty much untouched, I don't even own it, this is my moms polish and I'm not planning of buying one of my own. The nail art it self I really liked though and I'd love to wear it again.
Polishes used:
China Glaze - Ruby Pumps
Maybelline - DA051
Jordana Pop Art - Black Mark
Hope you liked this and are up for an orange nail art tomorrow.

Green water marble
Hi!
Today I'm showing a green water marble, I'm also participating in Green Wednesday at Vacker&Underbar.
I was trying this new spray method but the result didn't come out the way I wanted it to. However it ended up looking kinda cool anyhow, feels vegetable like or swamp like. :) What do you think about it?
Polishes used:
Kleancolor - Neon Green
Later today I'll show you an award Little Miss Nailpolish gave me <3

Maybelline Colorama - Pow Green
Hi! It's Wednesday and I've timed in Green Wednesday which Karin from the Swedish blog Vacker&Underbar has started. Anyhow, the green polish I'm showing is Pow Green from Maybelline Colorama and bought from HM. And for some reason I needed a whole bunch of photos of it. :)
I really got a thing for green polishes going towards yellow. This one has some color in it making it look a bit dirty but I don't mind that. A girl in my school actually commented that yellow nails was too soon. Yellow? And whatever too soon? Nah, don't agree with any of her statements.
And when talking about the color, we recognize this, right? Amongst many possible dupe's, HM's own polish - I'm not a kiwi, seems like an exact match comparing bottles.
Then you might wonder if this is worth having in any way? I say no. I had to use 3 coats to make it cover and I would have needed one more to get rid of the some streaky spots, but of some reason it looks very opaque in the pictures.
And another reason why not getting this is the price. It cost the same as HM's polishes but it has 7ML instead of HM's polishes which have 9ML. And I happen to know that I'm not a kiwi covers in just two coats and has a great formula.
I had many complaints but I still like the color though.
Have any of you tried any of these "new" Maybelline bottles? Have the polishes been good?

Marabou milk chocolate nail art
Today it feels like if I've been busy all day. That's why such a late Sunday nail art post, but I wanted to show you any how. Lelack decided that the theme of this week should be trademark.
I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do and pretty much went for it. I'm a chocolate lover and thought it would be fun with chocolate nails. I don't know, can you buy Marabou chocolate outside of Sweden? Anyhow, it's plain sweet milk chocolate. And that's what I did, Marabou milk chocolate nail art. :) Hope you'll like it!
I like how it came out except that I realized that I've got to few proper chocolate colored polishes. My chocolate nails look like nougat rather than chocolate. Any tip for good milk chocolate colored polishes? ;) Otherwise I think the colors are spot on almost. :)
Above is all polishes used:
Paris Memories (yellow)
Kleancolor - Beach Blue
Sure Promise (red)
needme PARIS Nail Polish (beige/brown)
Maybelline (dark brown)
L.A. Colors Art Deco - Gold
Sure Promise (white)

Bottle pictures of the latest nail polish shopping!
I bought some new nail polishes the other day.
Sloppy picture but good enough for this Thuesday. I've actually looked at these polishes for quite some time and now finally I bought them. The isadora crackle polish was on sale so I took it as well.
Polishes are:
HM nail polish - Lemon Tree
HM nail polish - Mint Madness
HM nail polish - I'm not a kiwi
Maybelline nail polish - Pow Green
Isadora - Latte queen (crackle)
Both I'm not a kiwi and Pow Green have a very similar color; avocado green. And I love it, however I feel that all the colors I've bought is more summer/spring colors so I think that they aren't going to be well-used this autumn/winter. For the autumn I want more darker shimmer colors and combinations like that. :)

Flowers and dots nail art over nude polish
Some how I got hyped over nude nail polishes and i hoarded a bunch in the nude polish spectra, from the pinkish nude to the brown-beige nude. Afterwards maybe a few too many? Anyhow here I've a nail art made over nude. I made brown flowers and dots with a dotting tool and added neon pink dots to ad some "color". I actually liked this. :)
Noticed that pictures was taken in yellow light so the pictures/nails are yellow-toned, sorry for that.
Polishes:
Maybelline - 150 (nude beige)
Maybelline - 549 (brown)
Sure Promise (pink)

Shimmery green funky french with side flowers and dots
The more funky french and and cute side flowers, the merrier, right? It is actually a bit similar to this post, maybe. At least the polishes are the same, and yes my mothers polishes as well. The green funky french is China Glaze (from the romantic collection). The base is maybelline and the flowers are from L.A. Colors Art Deco.
I've been thinking about the petals, here I've used four of them and I've realized that I like the three petal flowers more. When I'm painting four it feels like one always get outside and get forced.
