31DC2015 - Day 19; Galaxy + otep inspired nail art

Today it's the galaxy theme in 31dc2015. And yea, galaxies are nice and all that, I don't mind them but somehow it feels like they often just look more of less the same all the time. Of all the prompts in the 31dc I've on previous years often find my self thinking that it's the least versatile nail art of them all.

So I'm always trying to do something else, but "galaxy inspired". My galaxy involves a whole bunch of stars, both in black and gold, also some plus and dots as "stars"(?).  All in a red background. Something else is also happening and since I'm also joining the #musicpolishfestival challenge (by Lakobotan and Leedyz) (yes I know, 3 challenges in the same month!) and therefor I also wanted to incorporate a singer in this. My choice was Otep Shamaya and I've always like the promo pic where's she is wearing the checked shirt, and black and red felt like a good color choice, partially because it has been used on albums and some videos too. And with a "deeper" interpretation the crosses also has a meaning to her position to church and christian religion. She has quoted "Art is my God, Music is my religion...".

Checked pattern/tartan in red and black

A late post for Nail Art Sunday, but better late than never. Lelack decided that the theme should be “squares” and I was happy because it can be used in different checked patterns. And earlier this week Susanne at Fingerfärger showed a picture at fb with a black and red nail art by nuthin' but a nail thing, it had some checked/tartan pattern and also some black opaque rhinestones on a black base. So basically my nail art is much inspired by it, there is some changes though, my black rhinestones have some oil slick which make them shine in more colors (mine basically look metallic), also my lines ended up a bit thicker(must get a new black fine liner!) in combination that my nails are shorter than the inspo. Anyhow, I liked the result quite much, red and black is such a classical combo. What to you think? :)

Argyle nails in pink, gray and white

United In Pink continues and for today I have an argyle nail art to show you. Last month I showed argyle nails in black, white and red and this is my pinked up version. Tomorrow I'm planning to show you a tutorial of how I did this according to a request I got on facebook. :) Enjoy!

Argyle nails in black, red and white

As you might know I have a huge archive of my manicures and now when being in Germany with what it feel like a huge amount of time of doing nothing I feel the urge to get them "edited" (normally cropped/tagged) and ready to get published. Especially since I just recently bought a Canon 550D and it would feel weird to mix new and old photos since I guess that the quality might differ. I have mentioned it several times before but all my photos here are taken with a regular cell phone camera.

This is a nail art I did a year ago. Some time I plan my nail art's before I make them, and sometime the half time result looks so good that I wear it for a day or two before I add the rest of the nail art.This is one of those, the end result you can see HERE. And this is the half time result, which I think look quite fun too. :D

Black and white checked nail art

I guess most of you people are starting to enjoy your vacations and are all prepped and done to welcome Christmas? Well, I'm not. I'm working 3 more days before my time off starts, therefore I have archive nails as usual, this time a black and white checked nail art which I've shown before but with more added on. I like it this way too, even more maybe. Anyhow, hope you like it. :)

Gradient mesh nail art in blue, green and purple

Today I'll show a nail art I did for a nail art competition by Isadora, it's no longer possible to send contributions but the vote's are up. Here's a link to Isadora's website where the contest is (and it's also possible to see all entries there) and I'll also give you a link to my entry, even though I think you should vote at the one you like the best.

However, like Zara from Traces of polish and also a few other bloggers/competitors have said, I probably never would have participated if I knew that the votes where based on facebook-likes. I read through all the rules before participating but that was apparently a secret until after the voting started. Now it has become to be a popularity contest with reminiscent from middle school at the gym and being picked last (as Zara pointed out). There's a lot of really good entries that almost haven't got any votes, especially the earlier ones. And another thing I dislike is that the ones who noticed this competition early (not me) and sent their entry's early gets punished for it because the first page only show the last entries and to be able to see the other ones you have to click "older" and there's about 5 slow loading pages to go through. Now maybe some of you will find me silly but I guess I'm old fashion in that way. I'd rather would have seen it to be a lottery where everybody has an equal chance or at least that all entry's was shown at the same page and the voting was anonymous.

BUT, let's move on to the actual nail art. I've grown attached to striping tape and this time I decided to remake this mesh nail art but with only three colors and I decided for no underlying gradient. Here or in the pages above you can find a tutorial which works for this one too. I picked an aubergine colored purple, a cobalt blue and mint green shade and I think that the colors looks unusual and cool together. I tried alternating each nail to get different looks and I liked the result. I also painted pearl rhinestones with the polishes and attached them on to accent nails but I think they got too big, I should have choose a smaller rhinestone. The pictures with the best color accuracy are the ones without flash but I wanted to include the two-hand-poses too. And as usual I hope you like it. :)

31DC2013 Day 25; Tweed nail art

Today it's inspired by fashion and I originally had another idea for this but then I kinda banana peeled my way into the tweed..  I got to think about those tweed jackets or blazers, the ruff looking ones which look very chic and elegant. Some of them breath prudish old lady but with the right outfit a younger person can pull them of too. For this nail art I used the "water color technique"  and then fine liners and I think the result came out really textile looking. I really like this nail art look and I'll definitely remake it in the future.
