31DC2015 - Day 27; Banksy street art inspired nail art

Today artwork is the theme of the day and I decided to get inspired by street art. I just love well made graffiti and street art. There is often good political and social statements and some of the 3D art are just mind baffling.

Today I have done a nail art inspired by Banksy (a quite well known street artist), I wish I had small detail brushes so I could be able to make more detailed work since my canvases are way smaller than a brick wall. However with that in consideration it's not that bad. I found a "graffiti" aka crackle polish in P2's new collection and figured it would fit perfect for this. The rest is freehanded with a fineliner polish and a dotting tool. Hope you like it. :)

Pink crackle gradient

Sometime I'm not that content with the nail art I've done and below is one of those. Inspired by this nude crackle manicure, which I liked, I decided to make a 100% pink crackle gradient and I guess I think it became too much and maybe the whole thing looks a bit "thick"? I don't know, what do you think?
Anyhow, it's Pink Thursday and there's at least no doubt that this is pink enough. ;)

Nude crackle and metallic pink to nude gradient

For this Saturday I decided to pick something from the archive. Some time I like recreating my manicures, but perhaps in other colors and this is one of those. I liked the original version much better, that one felt icy and cool but maybe you prefer this version?

Anyhow, a problem with this time was that I was too stressed out and didn't let the base gradient dry enough which made the crackle drag the underlying polish some. I also think that I let the pink gradient go too far over the nude. Anyhow, I'll try the other colors too as soon as I got time. :)

31DC2013 Day 16; Neon tribal nail art

According to the 31 day challenge today is all about tribal print. I really like tribal prints on nails, it's very versatile however this is only my second nail art with it. The previous one you can see here and I pretty much used the same "pattern" even though as I said the variation possibilities are huge. I early decided that I wanted a neon yellow and from that grew the rest, from the crackle polish (which I think work excellent here looking like dried clay) and the pattern came. This time I choose to make the nail art layout the same on each nail and the pattern is slightly different on each nail. So here you have it;

Nordic Cap - NP13 (as a base for the neon to make it extra bright)

Nude crackle and metallic blue to nude gradient

Hi lovely readers!
It is Sunday and with that of cause Lelack's Nail Art Sunday!  Today the theme was free so I ended up experimenting and I really like the result! I wore this for some days ago and I loved it and will do it again with perhaps other colors. The title says it all, which is nude crackle over metallic blue to nude gradient. I often tend to dislike crackle manicures a lot even though I were them my self. It's like if I have a cool picture of how it will look and when I make it, it looks less good. Here however, the image matched the outcome and this is the crackle manicure I like the best of the ones I've made. :)

 I really loved the result, here with out top coat leaving the crackle polish matte and the base metallic and shiny.

As you can see I've used another color of nude under as a base and then sponged the metallic blue from the cuticles. And then I painted with the nude crackle all over the nail. I love how vibrant the metallic looks with this contrast of nude, like shown in the photo below.

When I see it I think of these large ice cubes in the north pole from documentary films. You know when the ice is crystal clear and ice blue with a hint of white crackles. Ah, I guess you know what I mean. :)

So, the photo just above and the two below is with top coat. I must say I preferred the ones with out top coat so the next time I'll make this I'll keep the crackle matte as it is and the base shiny.

Isadora - Latte queen

I've done a quick test with one of my latest purchases; Isadora - Latte queen. It was a spontaneous purchase since it was on sale. However I liked it, I only have colored crackles before and this is more neutral allowing more colored base colors.

I've been wearing some pinks this week so I thought it was a good idea to test it of with pink. The pink base is from Paris Memories and as you already know, the nudeish crackle color is Isadora - Latte queen. I've already got some ideas for nail arts with this which I hope will work out. :)

Half crackle half sloping funky french with glitter

Here I have a nail art I'm not that content with, but lucky you, you get to see it anyhow. ;)

I guess I had some idea about it, like the effect of crackle on the "naked" nail. However the mix of both crackle and glitter and maybe also the color combination made it be a bit, ehm not so nice.

Pastel green + dark green crackle

We have all seen it several times and my pictures are a bit crappy but I just wanna say that I like it. :) I'm talking about China Glaze - Re-fresh Mint.

And the color pastel green. Anyone who have something that they associate this color with? When I see this color, some key words pop out, and that is: spring time, mint flavored things, hospital scrubs and mould. Not in the same time though.

And the "nail art" to go along.. Isadora Graffiti - Subway Green.

The few times I come around and make crackle manicures I've noticed that I often want to use the same color for base and crackle (just different nuances). I guess I imagine that it will look better like that.

Blue crackle +bonus butterfly participating

China Glaze - Caribbean blue is quite okay for crackle layering I think. And especially for blue on blue. The crackle polish is Isadora Graffiti -Spray can blue.

On the above picture you can see it with out top coat, and all the crackle is matte.

 And above is with top coat making it shiny.

The manicure above isn't color correct, it's with flash because I wanted my accessory not to bee too dark. ;)

Yellow smiley fimos on blue crackle background.

I start up August with a smile, literally.This is a crackle manicure that I actually think works. The blue ones are in the same nuance and it get subtle I think. And yes, I ordered a bunch of yellow smiley face fimos and thought they could fit this. At least it looks fun.

The crackle is Isadora Graffiti -Spraycan blue. Not sure about the blue base unfortunately.

Isadora Graffiti masterpiece pink nail art

Isadora Graffiti is old news, but I like the pink "masterpiece pink". However in this combination I don't like it that much. Ended up painting black lines with Sure Promise and putted on black opaque star rhinestones on the accent nails. 

Have to confess that I actually don't know what nail polish I used as a base, it seems blue. Or a very thin blue shimmer over a black? Can't remember.

Nail him HM nail polish with HM crackle polish

Well, the title says it all, ie. more crackle nail polish, all made by HM! The blue is Nail him by HM nail polish and the black crackle is HM crackle polish. As I mentioned earlier today the hardest thing with crackle polish is the base. The base color must be great. I have to confess that I really like Nail him by HM, love the blue color! So here it is, a nice combination.

 

Above I've documented a little "experiment" with different kind of brush strokes. The two fingers to the left are brushed sweepingly from side to side. And the two fingers to the right are just done regularly, brushed from the top to the bottom. I prefer the regular method, I think it looks cleaner some how. What do you think?

And a little review about the HM crackle polish. I think it is okay, it dries fast, and it also make the polish below drier (if you just painted it). However I must say that I think that Isadora graffiti makes better crackle. I think the formula holds a better quality, has all the good features that HM's crackle polish has but makes a better pattern. But that's just my opinion. I actually gave my HM crackle polish to my mum. :)

Crackle nail polish with pearl rhinestones

I have a hard time with crackle nail polish, how do you make it looking good?! The base is important. 

I used a purple shimmer polish from ZTIZ (also a budget brand, bought at dollarstore for 10SEK) and my intention wasn't to make this mani, but when I stumbled on the HM crackle nail polish I thought why not try it on the ZTIZ. Said and done, I did. Afterwards I wasn't amazed so I added more.. I put on one of my absolute favorite layering effect polish from Paris memories (which is the blueish rainbow glitter effect showing the most on the black crackle). And to top it of, I put 4MM pearl rhinestones on. After adding everything I still wasn't amazed but I thought it looked okay. 

I just love pearl rhinestones...and I love the effect polish even if it doesn't show its full potential in the pictures.
