Zig zag / chevron tape nail art in gray and yellow

A fun challenge I'm joining and hosting is When Colours Collide. It is a bi-weekly color nail art challenge, the last weeks had the theme gray/grey and yellow.

And since I got a zig zag / chevron tape to review from Born Pretty Store I thought it would be an excellent idea to combine it with a yellow base, using the tape to create a masked pattern with gray on top. I also decided to make a black glitter gradient.

The zig zag tape came in a big roll and I like the look of the tape. It has, as you can see, side walls which allow you to either remove the sides or the middle depending on the effect you like (Here I removed the sides). I used a tweezer and a scissor to simplify while doing this. :) I can really recommend this product. :)

Gift nail art

Hi, today is no. 7 whit the theme gift in the Great Christmas Challenge and also the last post in this challenge and it has been fun doing this challenge. I like that it has been some time between each prompt, especially now during Christmas when things are a bit more hectic. So a big thanks to Sara at LovingCosmetic for arranging this!

Since Christmas is over (here in Sweden at least) I wanted to make something wearable and not crazy Christmas like. And you say what, but yea, I learned from Lakobotan that in Russia Christmas is celebrated the 6th of January. Then this isn't as off that one could think. For this nail art I went for gold and black and I like the result. And I like how dark the nail art is (some of you might remember that I like black Christmas stuff. Even though I didn't decorate something this Christmas I have a bunch of black Christmas decorations; I think it look elegant..Mostly of my Christmas gifts actually had black wrapping paper and red metallic string around it) and for some reason I've had such an urge to have mostly black nail art's for weeks now.

I could mention a bit more about the nail art. There is actually a gold glitter funky french gradient under everything. Then I used striping tape making the wrapping string and painted the whole thing black, removed the tape and then I attached yellow flower rhinestones. Cool right?

Tape manicure in silver and white

Here I have another tape manicure much inspired by the one in silver and red which I showed earlier. I figured that silver and white would look elegant together and I think I was correct in that assumption. ;)
Here I had shorter nails and I only made one accent nail and I must say I liked the silver/red one better than this one just because I preferred it with longer nails and double accents. But I like the color combination, I'll probably remake it for winter/Christmas 2014. Which one did you prefer? :)

Tape manicure in silver and red

Hi. Yet another quick post, I got so much to do but since the photos are prepped I'm able to get them out and I guess that is good. This one has a Christmas feel to and we don't want to save it til' next Christmas, right? ;) This was something really quick I did with the help of striping tape (a nail art method I'm really starting to like more and more since it's a fast and simple method to change a manicure). I did two accent nails with a more "advanced" pattern while the others just had a line. I like how it really makes my nails look longer and the whole manicure feels very elegant.

Gradient mesh nail art in blue, green and purple

Today I'll show a nail art I did for a nail art competition by Isadora, it's no longer possible to send contributions but the vote's are up. Here's a link to Isadora's website where the contest is (and it's also possible to see all entries there) and I'll also give you a link to my entry, even though I think you should vote at the one you like the best.

However, like Zara from Traces of polish and also a few other bloggers/competitors have said, I probably never would have participated if I knew that the votes where based on facebook-likes. I read through all the rules before participating but that was apparently a secret until after the voting started. Now it has become to be a popularity contest with reminiscent from middle school at the gym and being picked last (as Zara pointed out). There's a lot of really good entries that almost haven't got any votes, especially the earlier ones. And another thing I dislike is that the ones who noticed this competition early (not me) and sent their entry's early gets punished for it because the first page only show the last entries and to be able to see the other ones you have to click "older" and there's about 5 slow loading pages to go through. Now maybe some of you will find me silly but I guess I'm old fashion in that way. I'd rather would have seen it to be a lottery where everybody has an equal chance or at least that all entry's was shown at the same page and the voting was anonymous.

BUT, let's move on to the actual nail art. I've grown attached to striping tape and this time I decided to remake this mesh nail art but with only three colors and I decided for no underlying gradient. Here or in the pages above you can find a tutorial which works for this one too. I picked an aubergine colored purple, a cobalt blue and mint green shade and I think that the colors looks unusual and cool together. I tried alternating each nail to get different looks and I liked the result. I also painted pearl rhinestones with the polishes and attached them on to accent nails but I think they got too big, I should have choose a smaller rhinestone. The pictures with the best color accuracy are the ones without flash but I wanted to include the two-hand-poses too. And as usual I hope you like it. :)

Texture and shiny tape nail art in green

It's Wednesday and that means Green Wednesday at Vacker&Underbar. I just love green and this time I wanted to prolong a green manicure by adding texture to it. The result actually remind me of lettuce or something like that. :)

As you might suspect, I've used striping tape to create a pattern and then painted the texture polish on top and removed shortly afterwards. I liked the result even though the tape lifted the polish in some places. This type of nail art really has potential, you know, texture and shiny on the same time.

Hoopoe bird nail art for Israel

Hi!
Today I'm continuing with my "Where in the world-challenge". I haven't had the time for quite some time to do this challenge but I feel inspired and hope I'll finish it during this summer. :)

And as you've seen, it's no. 4 today, which is to make a nail art inspired by Israel.

As before I've searched information about the country and tried finding something inspiring. Honestly Israel was very hard, there's conflicts, war and other less fun things which isn't so inspiring.. However at the end I only had two option, the Hoopoe bird or the Cyclamen (flower).

At the end I choose to go with the Hoopoe bird which is the national bird of Israel. I didn't make it literally but choose to make it abstract as you'll see below.

 I first made a orange base which I sponged to a color of my liking. After that I sponged/painted a white gradient and used striping tape after it had dried. And then I sponged it black and pulled of the striping tape of and then dots and black rhinestones.
