Hello 2017 & Penguin freehand nail art

Needless to say 2016 wasn't my year for many reasons. Personal issues made my motivation at the bottom and my nail art'ing was sparse. To make it worse I had computer problems (which of course could have been solved with an excellent economy). To sum it up, all things which could go wrong at the same time did. I hope 2017 will be much better. :)


I'm not really expecting anyone of my old followers to still be around. I feel like I'm doing this for my self. Building up my searchable archive as I intended before, to easier see what I've done and my improvements etc.

I'm that kind of person who likes things in order. Therefore I debated with my self how I should handle the blog thing. I've posted things on IG which I haven't posted here. Should I try to catch up? Should I give up and just keep doing IG only? I've decided for a yes and no on the catching up, I won't force it though. I like the routine to post the same content on both channels on same dates.

So, I've updated my blog design a bit. Not sure I want to keep Blogger though, suddenly it feels awfully dated, but that's for another day. This is better than nothing for the moment.

First up is this penguin nail art for an IG challenge called Glamnailschallenge. Simple freehand with nail polish. Actually my first ever penguin nail art. :) And I'm really proud of it.

NCC presents: Snoopy and Woodstock nail art

Time for my Animals #3 for this month's theme for the Nail Challenge Collaborative. And this time I actually have two animals to show ;) both a dog which happens to be called Snoopy and a little yellow canary bird called Woodstock.. well, I guess you already guessed it, but it's Peanuts! :) I used a super pale pastel yellow and a mint blue pastel gradient base and also a yellow, blue and white glitter gradient on top for my other nails. Then free handed snoopy and Woodstock with nail polish, dotting tool and fine liner brush as usual. And yea, I'm happy with the result, hope you'll like it too :)

Origami crane nail art

Hi, I'm in the mood for more from the WITW-challenge. Country no 21 is Japan and I decided be inspired by origami. And I did an origami crane nail art flying in the air. I'm very content with the result and it was actually easier to freehand than I first thought.Too bad many of my pictures ended up blurry so I only have a few pictures to show.

Parrot needle dragging nail art

Today I figured that I'll show you country no 20 in the WITW-challenge which is Colombia! I actually did this nail art November last year, before country no 19.. But now I have them in order so I'll hopefully will get them all out quite soon :D

Colombia's national animal is parrot so my choice was easy. I decided to do a needle dragging nail art with the colors and then use an accent nail. I loved this nail art, especially the non-accent nails and I must recreate this in other colors soon. Hope you'll enjoy! :)

Muted swan funky french for Denmark

I figured I'd show you some more from the Where In the World Challenge since I'm starting to have some in the archive and I think it's better to let them out in the open instead! Today it's all about Denmark, which is land no. 7 in the list.

I've got lots of positive thoughts about Denmark, it's close to Sweden and therefore I've been there on vacation several times. I really love their bread culture with cute bakery's everywhere. In Sweden we sadly have a more "defrost-to-ready sponge like bread in plastic bags" in the grocery shop, not that many bakery's (comparing to Denmark) and the few ones are quite expensive. Denmark also have their Danish pastry's which I never thinks tastes the same in Sweden. By now you might think there's going to be some kind of bread/pastry nail art, right? That would have been cool but now I went for symbols, and the national bird is the Muted Swan. I found a cute graphical image which I pretty much used as inspiration and free handed on my nails as a funky french. Thought that I'd show it but now it seems lost from google?
Anyhow, here you have it;

Hoopoe bird nail art for Israel

Hi!
Today I'm continuing with my "Where in the world-challenge". I haven't had the time for quite some time to do this challenge but I feel inspired and hope I'll finish it during this summer. :)

And as you've seen, it's no. 4 today, which is to make a nail art inspired by Israel.

As before I've searched information about the country and tried finding something inspiring. Honestly Israel was very hard, there's conflicts, war and other less fun things which isn't so inspiring.. However at the end I only had two option, the Hoopoe bird or the Cyclamen (flower).

At the end I choose to go with the Hoopoe bird which is the national bird of Israel. I didn't make it literally but choose to make it abstract as you'll see below.

 I first made a orange base which I sponged to a color of my liking. After that I sponged/painted a white gradient and used striping tape after it had dried. And then I sponged it black and pulled of the striping tape of and then dots and black rhinestones.

Ladybird and Robin's Egg gradient nail art

It's Sunday and that means Nail Art Sunday at Lelack. The theme is free so I figured that I'll kick start my first theme week in advance with the theme; Smitten Polish. A majority voted Smitten Polish Week and who am I to deny you that? ;)

Therefore, today I'll show you a gradient I did with Ladybird and Robin's Egg. Later during this upcoming week you'll see these and other Smitten polishes swatches with full info. Anyhow, I really liked the outcome of this, I think of a really colorful bird's egg especially since the black glitter went so good with the two colors. Gradients are plain awesome. :)

Cute black swans for Australia

Now for a premiere here in the Gelic' nail art blog, I will do my first challenge! The lovely Shortylegs from Shortylegsbeauty is doing this challenge and she motivated me to start doing it as well. :)

 I can "warn" you that I wont have the time to do a country nail art every day so I'll post them every once in awhile. As you can see from the list, Australia is the first country out. I thought for a while and searched the web and amongst many things I actually got inspired from their coat of arms. Inside the shield one of the pictures where a yellow background with a picture of a black swan.

 Here in Sweden the swans are white so I figured that it would be cool to make a black swan nail art to it.

 I think they came out quite cute with their blue pearl rhinestones eyes.

 I actually dabbed two yellow colors on the nail to make it more interesting but that didn't show so much in the photos.
