Kleancolor - Coffee Addict, swatch

Shall we take a look at my current favorite golden polish? Kleancolor - Coffee Addict is my "go-to-gold", it is antique gold (brown toned) and also a 1-coater. Easy application and good formula. Can one ask for more? ^^

31DC2013 Day 19; Abstract punk rock galaxy nails

Galaxies.. galaxies galaxies..I wasn't in the mood for the regular ones. When saying galaxy nails they all have the same concept and I will try that out too someday but this time I wanted to make my own interpretation. My first thought was that I wanted a polish that could work as a starry heaven on it's own, I picked Golden Nightmare which I've swatched but yet not shown nor reviewed, it has just stayed hidden in the archive. What I can say about it is that it has it ups and downs, the downside is that it get's gritty and the plus side is that it's a one coater and that the grittiness can be solved with two coats of top coat. With the top coat this is gorgeous, it's not really that dark blue like a real starry heaven, but it do have a bunch of golden glitter or glass-flecks which today will symbolize stars and galaxies. I also attached star-shaped golden metal stud rhinestones on all nails except my accent nail where I placed a bunch of metal beads, and suddenly this nail art turned very edgy and punk rock, however keep in mind it's a punk rock galaxy.. ;)

IRL the glitter showed much more than in the pictures and some time I had a hard time getting focus in the shots. I rarely use flash shots but this time I'll show you one (below) because that was the only way to really show how beautiful the polish is

Ninja Polish - The Midas Touch, gold flake polish, swatch

Today I'm showing this gorgeous yellow gold flake polish from Ninja Polish. The fun part is that this seem to be the only one with 24K real gold, OPI's and Zoya's are only 18K, even though they all looks the same when I've looked at comparisons. I knew I really wanted a gold flake polish so I was really happy when I saw this.

I've layered The Midas Touch over the bright blue Isadora - Surfers Paradise and I really liked the combination. The formula was great and I used two coats but one could have been enough. I also used Seche Vite on top, not for the shine because it was shiny before, but for extra protection.

I'd really like to have the silver version of this. I've had it in my shopping basket two times but still haven't bought it.Weird haa?

Do you have any gold flake polishes and what are your opinions about them?

OPI - Just Spotted The Lizard swatch

This and the other dupes has been seen everywhere for quite a while now but this is the first time it's been seen here at my blog. I'm talking about the Peridot dupe; OPI - Just Spotted The Lizard.

This is (I think three coats, could be two) over a black creme. Unnecessary to have the black, partly because it would cover alone and  partly because I've heard that layering duochromes over black sometime can diminish the duochrome effect. However some time black also enhances the effect and that was what I was going for here. I don't think that the black did anything particular in this case though.

I must say I was a bit disappointed at first, in sun and most lights the duochrome effect was rather weak and my nails mostly looked pale golden. However on a cloudy summer day I was able to capture the effects. Above you see how it shifts from gold to brown. Below the gold is going towards a greenish gold.

And below towards green, almost blue. This is probably my favorite one since the full duochrome spectra shows, from the tips, brown to gold, gold to green/blueish.

 Above is how the polish looks mostly, like a pale gold shimmer.

Above I've also included a photo of it in direct sun. No duochrome effect but the polish really comes alive and gets sparkling and the shade warmer which was a nice surprise for me. :)

Zebra pattern in gold and dark green

It's Saturday today, but I've been up since 7 because I was kind enough to help my boyfriend preparing for his snowboard trip with his friends. I'm thinking of sleeping some more soon but first I'll take care of our dog and then I might as well post a nail art post. :)

 As you can see it's golden zebra stripes over a dark green base. I really liked this nail art and color combination.

Flash

The green is a favorite and I really liked "Gold Rush". It's very opaque, the brush is thin and and the formula is great.

My new year's eve nail art

As promised, here's my new years eve nail art! As you can see it's a sloping funky french in gold holo glitter and then stars stamped randomly along the sloping smiley. Maybe gold is "wrong" to a new year manicure but I really had a feel for the gold glitter holo. And I really liked the outcome. Below there's a lot of pictures and I hope you like it too!

In writing moment I'm just about to go to bed because when this is published I'm headed back to my home town, back home to my boy friend. Can't wait. It's a three hour trip and if I'm not sleeping the whole way I'll probably edit a large bunch of nail art pictures. We'll see what I find most interesting, sleep or nail art.. haha :)

 Oh, and btw, the stamping was hell. I used a regular black first but that was too thin and was hard to pick up from the plate. I then changed to my fine liner polish (they are often thicker and more pigmented) and the stamping was so much easier.

 Here you can see the bottle for the gold holo glitter. And you see correctly, it's a fine liner which I've brushed over a normal gold so that I only needed 1 coat of the holo glitter. I say holo glitter because it really sparkles like holo, however it's not a real holo glitter, because there's no purple or blue in it. The main glitter combination is from red-orange-yellow to green. Is that a half holo or just multi glittering glitter? Anyhow, gorgeous polish.

Flower and leaf fimo nail art on gold glitter funky french

For this monday I have a holo gold glitter funky french with flower and leaf fimos. I also have some pearl rhinestones on the accent nails.

My opinion is that the idea is good, but for some reason my nails look really yellow in the pics, discolored perhaps in combination with bad light? And that spoils it for me. In normal circumstances I love fimos and holo gold glitter tips. I actually have another one of these with holo gold glitter tips and blue flowers somewhere in the archive that I like better.

Gold, blue and black net pattern in sloping funky french

Here I have a sloping funky french with a net/cross pattern. I really like the color combination of this with the gold, blue shimmer and black creme. Hope you like it too. :)
