Elixir Lacquers - Snowman Suite, swatch and layering

Snowman Suite feels suiting to show now when Christmas is coming up, even though the actual images are from May this year.. Snowman Suite has a clear base and is totally filled with holo glitter, then there is small matte red hexagons, slightly bigger white hexagons and a very few large black circle glitter. Below is 3 coats. Sadly the black glitter sunk to the bottom of the bottle and was super hard to get up. Out of 10 nails I got 2-3 "naturally", then I went fishing for more and got 2 more but after that I gave up..It was too difficult. I know this base might not have been the best base.. this looks slightly like a disease? Like this I don't like it so much, I suspect that a green creme base would help it. What do you think?

Bought from Color4nails for $6.

OPI - Samoan Sand, swatch

Hi, finally Friday and I still haven't settled in my routines vs work and blogging.. But I still wanted to show you something. OPI - Samoan Sand was bought at H2T for nothing (they have a bunch of OPI's for like 3-4$) and my plan was to use it as french base however it's tiny bit too brown and maybe not jelly enough for that. You know, it is a streaky tendency, like half jelly. This is three coats and even though it looks natural and fresh in the pictures it's sligtly more warm pinkish brown comparing to what I prefer. I could guess it would cover in 4-5 coats for my long nails but in the pictures I got 3 coats. What do you think?

Sunflower funky french for Ukraine

Let's take a look at country no. 18 in the Where In The World Challenge which is Ukraine. When reading I realized that the national flower was the Sunflower and I immediately visualized a sunflower funky french. Maybe it looks more like some kind of burning pile, but with imagination you'll see it's flowers. ;) Hope you like it :)

OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark, swatch

Another day in the Vintage Week challenge (I bet you know what it is by now ;)) and the theme is Favorite golden oldie. I was thinking on what to show and this might not be my favorite of all time but it's special since it was one of my first lemmings. It was in 2009 and it was in the beginning of my more serious hoarding. It was also one of my first OPI's ever.

To make it short, what I'm showing is OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark. As I said, it was in the beginning of my interest of nail polish and I don't think I'd come across with matte nail polish like this before. I remember I saw this at some nail blog and I liked what I saw. I thought it looked elegant with that smooth matte dark surface. Since I liked it so much, and my economy was good, I bought this and a huge bunch of other polishes online for the very first time (but not the last). ;) Another one I bought at the same time was OPI - Man Of La Mancha..

As I said LPAD is a matte very dark purple polish. It also dries in seconds literally, ie. it's important to paint each nail fast, otherwise it will dry meanwhile you're painting. Especially since this one has the thin old brush.

As you see, it's also looks quite nice with top coat on and becomes super glossy. However I prefer it matte, I got several other almost black polishes, like W7 - Black Cherry even though that one is more of a brown purple and LPAD is more truly purple.

I like this based on sentimental reasons, however I guess it didn't meet my then high expectations from the blog post. Also I started to know about more cool nail art by then so I guess my interest was split. ;P However, I thought this would be fun sharing with you. :)

Forth of July nail art water marble

Well then, happy forth of July! I've done a red, blue and white water marble and I'm actually quite happy with the outcome. I think that my water marbling skills has improved since I started and that's fun. :)

I first made a base with a white creme and then I individually dipped one finger in my bowl. I've used regular tap water and dripped in each color and then made a pattern with a needle. I choose to use shimmer/metallic polishes to make it more interesting :)

OPI - Get Your Number, swatch

Blue Monday at Lindas Nailorama and I'm participating with a polish feeling like old news rigt now..but who cares?! :)

The polish is from OPI's Liquid Sand Collection and is called Get Your Number.

As you can see it's blue, matte and textured and also got a bunch of prismatic/holographic glitter in it which can be seen more clearly at the last photo.
I think this is two coats (I have accidentally deleted my notes about this) and since I couldn't use top coat drying time felt very long..For me it took about 10 minutes before the surface was enough dry for me to do stuff and at least 30-60 minutes for it to be completely dried. But I've seen that others have had faster drying time so maybe it's just me or my bottle. ;)

I must say I actually liked it. First I thought that I would get stuck and rip stockings apart and dirt would get stuck etc, but it has worked surprisingly well. I think it's a great variation to all other polishes. And I see a huge nail art potential!

I've done one which I've called Blue textured jelly sandwich which you can find here; >LINK<

Blue textured jelly sandwich

Liquid sand jelly sandwich, is that correct to put it out like that? I mean liquid sands are jelly if they have top coat and if I put something in between and make a sandwich of it it probably is a jelly sandwich, just textured. Or should I call it Textured Jelly Sandwich? Yea, I liked that! Remember where you heard/saw it first! ;)

Anyhow, Blue Monday at Lindas Nailorama and this manicure surely is blue!

I basically painted on some stars over OPI - Get Your Number (GYN) and then a coat of GYN again, like a jelly sandwich. Above it hasn't yet fully dried.
The result was darker than the "normal" color of Get Your Number because the star polish made the polish wet and then it gets darker. When I added more GYN the base was dark and it didn't change.

The star polish I used is Kleancolor - Blind Date. I think I used about 2 coats of dabbing to place the star some what even. I liked that the star glitter was really thin and didn't stick up much from the polish like some glitters do.
It was quite cool this way too. It looked super jelly and the prismatic glitter really gave a dept to the polish.

Which one did you like the best? ;)

OPI - Just Spotted The Lizard swatch

This and the other dupes has been seen everywhere for quite a while now but this is the first time it's been seen here at my blog. I'm talking about the Peridot dupe; OPI - Just Spotted The Lizard.

This is (I think three coats, could be two) over a black creme. Unnecessary to have the black, partly because it would cover alone and  partly because I've heard that layering duochromes over black sometime can diminish the duochrome effect. However some time black also enhances the effect and that was what I was going for here. I don't think that the black did anything particular in this case though.
I must say I was a bit disappointed at first, in sun and most lights the duochrome effect was rather weak and my nails mostly looked pale golden. However on a cloudy summer day I was able to capture the effects. Above you see how it shifts from gold to brown. Below the gold is going towards a greenish gold.
And below towards green, almost blue. This is probably my favorite one since the full duochrome spectra shows, from the tips, brown to gold, gold to green/blueish.

Above is how the polish looks mostly, like a pale gold shimmer.

Above I've also included a photo of it in direct sun. No duochrome effect but the polish really comes alive and gets sparkling and the shade warmer which was a nice surprise for me. :)

Hope your eyes didn't die by seeing this again and hope you'll continuing having a nice Thursday. :)

My recent polish hauls..

I got them like one or two weeks ago but I haven't got the time to share them with you. So, some bottle pictures for you then. :)
I couldn't help my self and bought the whole Color Club Holo Collection, and it was worth it! I've tried two of them and I'm so impressed by the formula and the rainbows. If you've been thinking of buying holo I can really recommend these. The downside is though that the colors are a bit pale.

Little Miss Nail Polish photos got my to get this flaky thing from Color Club called Snow-Flakes.
Above is China glaze - Lubu Heels, Hello Gorgeous! and Sensuous. Lubu Heels I've longed for a long time, but it has been out of stock or I've just prioritized it down, but this time I grabbed it. Hello Gorgeous from China Glaze's breast cancer campaign was a must after Claws in Colors pictures and the fact that they are for a good cause is great. Sensuous I bought because I wanted a sheer color to have for my french manicures.
Here I have 4 polishes from China Glaze and their old Romantics collection, from the left: Harmony, Delight, Cherish and Adore.  The fifth polish is Agro.
Above is the lovely Stella from China Glaze.
Above you see China Glaze's summer Neon collection except two colors that I already had. Yummy, but unusually many pink colors to be me.
Above are some base coat and top coat.
And above and below is my gift from One Inch Nails giveaway filled with four tiny OPI polishes from the Skyfall collection. So thank's again for that Chaosophia!
And except above mentioned polishes I also bought the rest on the duochromed collection from China Glaze, namely Swanky Silk and Want My Bawdy.

When my boyfriend saw this he asked me; "And now you don't need to buy some more for a long while, right? Right?"

I could have been like that, but I've already found four China Glaze and two Color Clubs that I REALLY need, you know desperately. Now I just need to find three more polishes to fill a SFRB.. :D
