FACE it - Bonny Girl, swatch

As you might have noticed I adore matte glitter and here I'm showing one of my ebay findings from a brand called FACE it. From the description it seems to be a Korean brand (correct me if it's not) and I bought it for US $4.99 which is about 32SEK. In the description I've seen "Colored Paper Nails" so I suspect that could be a collection name and the specific name of this one is Bonny Girl, even though the bottle don't have that written on it.

The polish it self have white and pink tiny hex glitter, white and pink short bar/string glitter and white and pink heart glitter in a clear base. The glitter was really dense and it was easy to apply (no fishing or placing), below is 2 coats on top of a black creme base. I'm really happy with this polish and I recommend it and I'm looking forward to use it in some nail art soon. :)

Braided cartoon nail art

Took a little break from the blog as you probably noticed. I've had a lot to do and still have some left. But let us look at some nail art then, shall we? Here I have an archive thing I did in November last year. I wanted to do something braided and did a gradient as a base. I like the gradient but I think the design would have looked better if the braided lines would have been thinner exposing the base a bit more. Now on the other hand it look a bit like cartoon like. And sorry in advance for the mess and somewhat crappy pictures.

And yea, this week I'll show some tutorials I've done so heads up for those. And if you have any request please go ahead and shoot. :)

Claudia - 604, swatch (brown)

A quick swatch for today. This is Claudia - 604 and at first I wasn't in the mood of buying it, it looked too pink, almost like a pink nougat color and I was looking for something more chocolate like. But for 10SEK (about 1€/£0,9/$1,4) it's worth to try.

And this time it payed off, it dried both to a darker and colder shade and it do look chocolaty! Like the perfect milk chocolate shade. This is a creme and below is two coats and application was good. If you stumble upon these I recommend them!

Cornflower nail art for Germany

The next country in the Where In The World Challenge is Germany and I know I have some German readers so I hope you like this ;) I searched for inspiration and found that corn flower was their national flower and I looked at some photos of cornflower and decided to do a graphical freehanded version. I decided to take Kleancolor - Metallic white as a base and made the whole nail art in metallic/shimmer. I liked that effect but I can imagine that the colors would pop more if the whole thing was done i creme. This is btw also my contribution to Blue Monday and now a picture spam will follow. ;)

And below some shots with flash so that you'll see how shimmery it looked, I also think the colors came out more accurate in the flash.

Paris Eiffel Tower nail art for France

You remember last year, December when I said that I thought I was able to finish the Where In The World Challenge before 2014? Well, apparently I didn't, work and studies came first. I've actually got a bunch of these posts prepared since long but the main thing which made me not go ahead was because I wasn't very content with my nail art for France (I'll show it some other time though). Then I saw an awesome picture at pinterest done by Kelsie at Kelsie's Nail Files and I liked it so much that I decided to recreate it with the exception of some color changes and the fact that I added an extra accent nail with some french text. One thing I seriously can't understand though, is how I can write the text so good and then make wobbly lines? I like France in general, I've studied french for 6-7 years and studied french in south of France during a summer just three years ago. I wish I was better though, I understand written text and preferably if someone speaks french in a slow pace.. Other than that I've been to Paris 2 times and I like the bread, pastry, clams, wine, architecture and much much more. But I must say some negative things I've experienced too, I've seen the most violent IRL physical abuse in open street mid day including head kick, some really arrogant people and the the drivers (in a city in the south of France at least) had the most weird behavior against pedestrians when there are plash of waters nearby the pavement; instead of driving in a straight line the drivers aims to the water in hope of splashing water on the pedestrians, first I thought it was a mistake but when different cars passed by (different ages and during the day) and a majority had the same behavior I started to see the pattern.. I haven't seen that before, any one of my readers who have heard about that in any country? LOL.

Black and red gradient with gold metal studs

Hi, as promised a normal blog post today. ;) A gradient in black and red with metal studs. I like the outcome of the gradient, that it look smooth even though the colors are so different. As usual I'm stoked with any manicure with metal studs like this. And that's it, I don't have much else to say than that I really like it. Somehow it also make me think about Russia or Asia. What do you think?

My favorite polishes of 2013

I've showed a whole bunch of nail art summaries and I figured that I'd do something similar to the nail polish section, like a personal review of me looking back. If this is too much info for you to swallow I'll be back tomorrow with more regular posts.

During 2013 I've tried a bunch of new brands, some indies but also some more regular brands. For nail art it is (for me) important with cheap polishes with good qualities, I don't want to be sparse when doing nail art no matter if it's free hand or water marbling. Especially since I do it a lot and want to change often. When it comes to indie brands, where the actual polish is like a nail art it self I happily pay more. Below you'll see a few of the indies bought and swatched during 2013. And yea, I adore matte black glitter, or well, any matte glitter type as you see. ;)

For 2012 the polish of the year was Kleancolor (at least for me), the polish price combined with the low shipping fee was a dream with the quality for all polishes except perhaps the glitters. I payed 14-16SEK(about 1,5 euro, £1,2, $2) for each bottle with shipping included. During 2013 shipping increased heavily from the US so bottles can now be bought for the double if not more. My interest for them went down. About at this time a swedish brand available in stores started showing; Nordic Cap. I've said it before but the price is great; 10 SEK or about 1 euro, £0,9,2, $1,4. The downside is that the colors available are the ones found in the stores and that isn't that safe if one wants a specific color. Another downside is that I've heard a few people who have stumbled upon bad version, I luckily haven't (yet). Below are a few of my Nordic Cap, it is quite clear that I use them for nail art and not for regular manicures the majority of the time since these where my only swatches of them. Still I have perhaps x6 the amount of Kleancolor compared to Nordic Cap though.

And about trends, now looking back texture polishes have probably been the finish of 2013. And looking at other trends than texture, a large amount of the larger nail polish companies have had some "wanna-be-indie-look-a-like-polishes". I'm thinking about China Glaze - It's A trap-eze(crelly with glitter) and Whirled away(matte glitter) to name the names. And then we have many more brands like HM, W7, OPI, Maybelline etc doing the same thing.

And why not finish off with my favorite finish; duo- and multichromes. I've bought several new during the later end of this year but I've only tried a few (too few) during 2013.
