I think it's time for another day in the Where In The World Challenge and country no. 10 is Russia. I went the easy way and decided to make matryoshka dolls (I even found a graphical picture to be inspired by but somehow the picture has disappeared). I decided for non traditional Russian colors and made the whole thing in baby blue and black. I don't know if I'm that content with the end result, I've seen much more realistic dolls but mine are made abstract and so it is. Hope you like it anyhow. :)
And you know what, if Tove approves this to be blue enough I'm in for for Blue Monday. :)
As usual I tried it both shiny and matte.
Polishes used:
China Glaze - Bahamian Escape
L.A. Colors Art Deco - Black
L.A. Colors Art Deco - Sky Blue
Nordic Cap - NP12

Oh wow, well done! I love the matte version the most :D
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D I think I like that version the best too. :D
DeleteDe är ju underbara! Vilket jobb ju lagt ner!
ReplyDeleteTack! :D Kul du gillade dem; egentligen "bara" en jäkla massa prickar och streck ;)
DeleteJättesnygga! De matta är min favorit :)
ReplyDeleteTack! :D Ja, jag tycker också matt blev snäppet bättre här :P
DeleteGreat idea to make them just black! I like matt version more but they're awesome anyway:)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yea, I think it looks cool that way :D I also preferred the matte version this time :)
DeleteHej!

DeleteAwww those matryoshka dolls look so lovely <3! Well done!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Fun you liked them :P
Deletewell... I must say that red/black would be better... more russian =)
ReplyDeletebut. I like how you did this dolls =) with different sizes =) nice idea! =)
You're correct, red and black would have been much more russian like. That was actually my original plan but my red polish turned out to suck so then I ended up using a baby blue instead. Now I hoarded some more red so if I redo this I'll definitely make it black and red.
DeleteAnd thank you!
lol. after all this posts and comments... I get 4 new reds in my favorite shop sale (closing up sale - it's sad)... I feel like a girly girl - not everyone can see the difference between this reds =)))
Deleteanyway, I really like that you did! red/black and red/gold(yellow) is too tupical russian colors, so it can be boring.
and. again - how do you drawing this?! it's so small! I wish I could do the same =) you're my hero!
Haha, you're correct, for some people red (or any color) is only ONE nuance. They don't know what they're missing! ;)
DeleteThanks again. Well, over-doing stuff can some time become a cliché. ;) But on the other hand; red and black are so nice together too. Love that combo, russian or not :D
I could try to make a tutorial of it, "all it takes" is two opaque polishes, a dotting tool and a fine liner brush. :D
... and a good hands! =)
DeleteI can't ever draw a straight finnish flag, common =))))))))))))
hope to see your tutorial soon =)
haha, sure you can! With good tools and practice! I believe in you! ;)))
DeleteWill be working on it! :D
Fy fasen var grymt! Jag diggar det här råhårt! Dina frihandsskills är inte att leka med!
ReplyDeleteOch självklart är det blått nog!
Men tack! Vad glad jag blir! :D :D :D
DeleteThis looks great! I like it in non-traditional colors, the black designs on the blue look so elegant :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yea, I had a plan that it would look cool the non-traditional way, with the matryoshka dolls I think it's possible to see it's russian influenced anyhow. It's like a play with the obvious and non-obvious :D
